Part 1
Your friend Emily is rather well-off. She works as a brand manager with the
annual salary of about $40,000. She had a happy childhood (though being a single
a single child in the family she is a bit spoilt) and never experienced financial
problems. Still she has a bad habit that annoys some of her friends very much.
When she does the shopping in huge supermarkets or hypermarkets she usually
steals some trifle like a pack of chewing gum or a chocolate bar. You are in a
supermarket and you see she’s just stolen a pack of candies.
Твоя подруга Эмили довольно состоятельна. Она работает бренд-менеджером с годовой зарплатой около 40 000 долларов. У нее было счастливое детство (хотя, будучи единственным ребенком в семье, она немного избалована) и никогда не испытывала финансовых проблем. Тем не менее, у нее есть дурная привычка, которая очень раздражает некоторых ее друзей. Когда она делает покупки в огромных супермаркетах или гипермаркетах, она обычно крадет какую-нибудь мелочь, например пачку жевательной резинки или плитку шоколада. Вы находитесь в супермаркете и видите, что она только что украла упаковку конфет. Answer the questions:
1. What would you do? Что бы вы сделали?
Since this is my friend, I would tell her that this is not good, and if it is noticed that she will have problems.
2. Would you talk to her, pretend you saw nothing, pay for the stolen article, etc.? Поговорили бы вы с ней, притворились бы, что ничего не видели, заплатили бы за украденную вещь и т.д.?
I'd talk to her.
3. How would you call her behaviour? Как бы вы назвали ее поведение?
I think this behavior is awful.
4. Would your attitude to this person change? Изменилось бы ваше отношение к этому?

Part 2
That time you told her nothing, the next time she did it you asked her about
her behaviour but it did not help. Emily just replied she was not stealing, she just
checked the security system o the shop. Once you went shopping and as usual she
stole a bottle of beer. Unfortunately that action was not left unnoticed and you both
were detained by the shop’s security guards.
Answer the questions:
1. Are their actions legitimate? Законны ли их действия?
The actions of the security guard are their task to monitor the safety of the store, as they saw Emily stealing a bottle of beer.
2. What might the penalty be? Каким может быть наказание?
They made be paid money for the stolen thing or payed penalties at least.
3. Is it fair that they detained you too? Справедливо ли, что они задержали и вас тоже?
No, I think it's unfair, because I didn't steal that bottle of beer and I didn't have that intention.
